Sourdough Campground's Famous Pancake Toss
Join Us for the Famous Pancake Toss at Sourdough Campground!
At Sourdough Campground RV Park in Tok, Alaska, the Pancake Toss isn’t just an event—it’s a tradition that keeps campers coming back year after year. Since it began, this quirky and fun activity has become a must-try for visitors, bringing everyone together in the spirit of friendly competition and laughter.
The Story Behind the Pancake Toss
It all started with too many sourdough pancakes. One day, rather than letting them go to waste, someone flung a pancake—and it flew, much like a Frisbee! Since then, the Sourdough Pancake Toss has become a nightly tradition from Memorial Weekend to Labor Day Weekend.
Our semi-firm sourdough pancakes fly remarkably well, and each evening after dinner, campers gather around to see who can toss a pancake into a bucket. Winners receive $10 off their breakfast the next morning! With two chances per contestant, it’s a game of skill, luck, and a whole lot of fun.
Meet Tim – Your Host & Pancake Toss Master
Tim, one of the campground’s owners and resident cook, hosts the Pancake Toss each evening with his quick wit and infectious humor. His playful commentary and lively banter turn each attempt into a mini-comedy show, adding fun and energy to the game. Whether guests are tossing or cheering, Tim keeps everyone entertained with jokes, lighthearted tips, and friendly teasing. His enthusiasm and charm make the Pancake Toss an unforgettable experience, drawing guests back night after night for laughs and a chance to win a breakfast discount.
Gather Around the Campfire and Roast Marshmallows
After the Pancake Toss, stick around for a cozy community campfire where guests are treated to free marshmallows for roasting. It’s the perfect way to unwind, socialize, and share stories with fellow campers. At Sourdough Campground, we encourage people to get out of their RVs, trailers, or tents and enjoy the great outdoors with new friends.
